Argendon filters: sizes and pack options

Shield, Guardian, Sandidry, and XStorm use different filter sizes. Match the full model name to the replacement below, then choose a pack size. Each of the 17 models takes one air filter; three- and four-packs provide spares for later changes. [10]

Dimensions include the frame; the last number is thickness. Each SKU identifies a pack. For XStorm, these replacements are MERV-1; the factory specification is MERV-8.

XStorm: MERV-1 replacement or MERV-8?

The listed MERV-1 filters fit XStorm Pro, Plus, and Max, but have a lower filtration rating than the factory-specified MERV-8. Argendon names all three models in its MERV-1 replacement listings. Retaining the original rating requires a compatible MERV-8 filter; matching length and width alone does not establish compatibility. [6]

MERV rates a filter’s ability to capture airborne particles. MERV-1 provides coarse filtration; MERV-8 captures smaller particles more effectively. A compatible MERV-1 replacement therefore does not preserve the XStorm’s original filtration capability. [1]

The official Argendon store sells MERV-1 for XStorm. A separate MERV-8 replacement was not found. [8]

Filter photos and pack choices

The Sandidry Elite 50C, 60C, and 80C share one replacement filter size. Sandidry 55C and Sandidry Pro 55C filters are not interchangeable. For the other brand’s models, use the AlorAir filter compatibility guide.

Cleaning and replacement intervals

Unplug the dehumidifier before maintenance. Inspect the filter before use, and reinstall a washed filter only when completely dry. Replace an element that remains dirty even if its scheduled replacement is not yet due.

For mold-remediation work, Argendon support specifies replacing the filter after each use. [7]

Cleaning depends on the filter installed. Argendon support permits cleaning MERV-1 but says not to clean or wash higher-rated filters. The XStorm manual’s directions for washing the mesh should not be applied to its factory-specified MERV-8. [4] [7]

Intervals apply to one installed filter. The MERV-1 support guidance is shorter than the 3 to 6 months in product descriptions; this guide uses the shorter interval.

XStorm MERV-1: use a 2 to 3 month replacement interval

The care images for both single filter 160300178 and three-pack 160300159 say 2 to 3 months. The pack’s text description instead says 3 to 6 months. Both listings specify the same dimensions, MERV-1 rating, and synthetic material; the longer interval does not establish that the pack’s filters last longer.

For the single XStorm MERV-1 filter and the three-pack, this guide uses the shorter 2 to 3 month interval, with replacement after two cleanings under the support guidance. [7]

Wired controllers for Shield, Guardian, and Sandidry

A wired controller brings the dehumidifier’s controls out of the crawl space to an accessible location. Argendon offers two display-equipped controllers with cables about 26 feet long. Each has its own model compatibility list.

Neither controller lists Shield 35M as compatible.

The controllers pictured in Argendon’s catalog carry the TOOVEM name. Argendon is part of TOOVEM’s brand portfolio. [7]

Risers and hanging kit: raise the unit off the floor

Risers provide height for gravity drainage. A hanging kit secures the unit to structural joists, allowing it to sit above a possible flood level and away from water on the floor. The dehumidifier drainage guide explains hose slope and when a pump is needed.

The hanging kit does not list Shield 60P or Guardian 60P. A recessed top reduces the actual lift: the 4-inch round riser supports the foot about 3.2 inches above its base.

The hanging kit carries the unit on two metal supports connected to the joists by four adjustable hangers. Joist fasteners must suit the structure’s material and the dehumidifier’s weight.

Pumps, float switches, and electronics

Argendon sells replacement pumps, float switches, control boards, and a coil temperature sensor. A float switch detects the water level in the pump assembly. Where a product has several model variants, the links below select the named version.

Each model link selects the corresponding product variant. Argendon lists one shared replacement control board for the three XStorm models.

The official listings have no photos of the XStorm control board or Shield 85P sensor.

The XStorm Pro, Plus, and Max share a replacement control-board listing, while the pump and float switch have separate model options.

Dehumidifier Accessories Package

Does a Sandidry 55C filter fit the Sandidry Pro 55C?

No. The Sandidry 55C takes a 9.25 × 10.04 × 0.4-inch filter; the Pro 55C takes a 9.44 × 9.84 × 0.39-inch filter. The listed replacement for Pro 55C is SKU 160300254.

How many filters do I replace at once?

One air filter in each of the 17 models listed here. A three- or four-pack supplies spare elements for later replacements.

Can I use MERV-1 instead of MERV-8 in XStorm?

Yes, Argendon lists MERV-1 as compatible with XStorm Pro, Plus, and Max, but it has a lower filtration rating. The official Argendon store sells MERV-1 for XStorm; a separate MERV-8 replacement was not found. Can I wash the filter?
