This ge dehumidifier review is built from 606 owner reviews and from the federal ENERGY STAR register. I did not test the unit.
GE stands out on one specification in this category: the pump lifts water higher than anything else I checked. It also carries a high share of low ratings on a small sample. Both belong on the page.

Where the numbers come from, and how far they reach
The core sample is 62,317 reviews of 711 compressor household dehumidifiers written between 2002 and 2023, drawn from the open Amazon Reviews 2023 dataset. The selection method is described on a separate page.
GE accounts for 606 of those reviews across 31 listings. That is below the 700 review threshold I set for the published brand table, and GE does not appear in it. Every figure below should be read with that in mind: the direction is clear, the second decimal place is not.
The reviews stretch from 2006 to 2023, with more than half written in 2021 and 2022.
What this ge dehumidifier review found in the ratings
The share of one and two star reviews is 34.0 percent. Across the rest of the core sample it is 17.5 percent.
Roughly double, on 606 reviews. The number describes owner experience rather than build quality, and several readings fit it: the age of the listings, expectations attached to an old household name, the mix of models sold. The data does not settle which.
One point of context. GE Appliances has been owned by Haier since 2016, and the Haier cohort in the same sample runs close: 586 reviews at 35.0 percent. Complaints centre on water and on failure
Review texts are tagged by topic. The figure is the share of reviews where a topic comes up at all, in praise as well as in complaint.

Denominators: 606 GE reviews and 61,711 reviews of the rest of the core sample, 2002 to 2023. Shares are counted against all reviews in each group, positive ones included.
Drainage sits on top, which fits a brand whose signature model is the pump version: owners who bought it for the pump write about the pump.
Among one and two star reviews, breakdown, repair or warranty appears in 48.5 percent. Tank and drainage follow at 17.0 and 16.5 percent. Error codes and coil frost stay at category level and do not separate GE from anything.
How long the unit ran
In 63 reviews the owner names a length of service before failure. The median is 14 months.
Sixty-three mentions is thin, and the figures come from failure stories: a length of service gets named when something stopped working. This is not an average service life, and I would not plan a purchase around it.
The pump: the highest lift in the class
The pump is the reason to look at GE at all. On the 50 pint pump model the water goes up 15 feet vertically with a 16 foot hose in the box.
For comparison, the Midea Cube pump lifts 14 feet. Those figures are not interchangeable with hose length: lift is how high the water can be pushed, hose length is how far the line reaches. The specification for the previous GE pump model, APER50LZ, listed 16 feet of hose.
That earlier model was built between March 2020 and September 2022 and has been replaced in the current line. The specification differs between generations; the pump remains the selling point.

The 50 pint model measures 49.63 pints per day, just under the ceiling of the portable class. The 22 pint model is rated at 1.57 litres per kilowatt hour.
Refrigerant on the earlier 50 pint model was R-410A. Lowest working temperature is 41 degrees Fahrenheit with auto defrost, and the humidity setpoint runs 35 to 80 percent in 5 percent steps. On the 35 pint model that range narrows to 30 to 70 percent.
What matters in Florida
The pump is the whole argument here. A dehumidifier in this state gets no dead season: the machine either drains itself or becomes a daily chore.
Where the pump earns its price: a ground floor room with no drain below the unit, a garage, a utility space where the nearest sink sits above floor level. Fifteen feet of lift covers a window, a laundry tub, or a run up to an outside wall.
Where it does not: if a floor drain sits below the unit, gravity does the same job for less, and the standard 50 pint model is the sensible pick.
Coil frost appears in 1.8 percent of GE reviews against 1.6 percent across the category, which is no difference worth acting on. Frost belongs to cold rooms, and in Florida it drops off the checklist.

Rated for 1,500 square feet. The smallest unit in the current line, with gravity drainage and no pump, so it needs a drain below the unit or regular emptying.

Reviews are not a random sample of owners: they are written by people who decided to write. The share of low ratings is not the share of failures.
Noise, airflow and tank shut-off levels are not published for the GE line. This page cannot compare them with anything.
