This yaufey dehumidifier review covers a brand whose share of low ratings, at 6.2 percent, is the lowest in the sample. Its PD161D also differs from the Waykar PD160B by one digit: the two brands share a certification applicant.

Where the numbers come from

The core sample is 62,317 reviews of 711 compressor household dehumidifiers written between 2002 and 2023, drawn from the open Amazon Reviews 2023 dataset. The selection method is described on a separate page.

yaufey accounts for 3,098 of those reviews. They peak at 1,578 in 2020 and fall away to 28 in 2023, which means the reviews describe the models of that period. The brand itself is still selling: the line is present both on Amazon and on the manufacturer’s own site.

What this yaufey dehumidifier review found in the ratings

The share of one and two star reviews is 6.2 percent. Across the rest of the core sample it is 18.2 percent, and five star reviews here make up 81.6 percent.

That is the lowest share among the brands in this sample with at least 700 reviews, ahead of Vellgoo at 6.8 percent and Kesnos at 9.7.

The figure describes owner experience rather than build quality. The age of the listings, the price of entry, who buys these machines: any of that explains a gap like this, and none of it can be tested on our sample.

Size comes first

Review texts are tagged by topic. The figure is the share of reviews where a topic comes up at all, in praise as well as in complaint.

Size leads at 25.1 percent against 14.3 across the category, which matches the hardware: a 0.48 gallon tank, smaller than the other full-size machines in the sample, in a cabinet measuring 12.21 by 8.27 by 18.9 inches.

The same pattern shows up at Waykar, where size also leads at 21.4 percent. The reason comes up further down.

Inside low ratings the order is breakdown at 25.5 percent, tank at 24.5, support at 21.4.

Six months, on thirty-six reviews

In 36 reviews the owner names how long the unit ran before it failed. The median, meaning the middle value of that list rather than the average, is 6 months, and 86 percent of the figures fall inside the first year.

Thirty-six mentions is too few to treat as a measurement. I give the figure because it was counted by the same rules as the others, where the cohorts are larger: Waykar 5 months across 138 mentions, Hisense 8 across 70, Frigidaire 12 across 445.

The caveat on the measure stands: a length of service gets named by owners whose unit died, so this is the distribution inside failure stories rather than an average service life.

PD160B and PD161D

yaufey, Waykar and Kesnos file their models for certification through a single legal entity, JHS INC.

How close those brands sit is visible in the model numbers. Waykar sells the PD160B. yaufey sells the PD161D.

A shared applicant does not mean the machines are identical in construction, and I am not going to claim that. It does mean this is not a choice among independent manufacturers.

The differences are real, though. Waykar has no pump anywhere in its household line. yaufey’s largest model drains upward, which means a pump is built in.

The numbers on the boxes

The current listings read 31, 80, 120 and 150 pints.

The description of the 31 pint model states its terms plainly: up to 31 pints per day at 95 degrees Fahrenheit and 90 percent relative humidity, with actual performance depending on the temperature and humidity in your rooms. That is more forthcoming than the neighbouring brands under the same applicant.

What appears on none of the listings is the Appendix X1 figure. The federal test runs at 65 degrees and 60 percent, and no portable unit exceeds 50.0 pints on that scale. On the manufacturer’s own site the numbers differ again: the YDY-32A is listed at 31.6 pints with ENERGY STAR Most Efficient status, the PD161D at 32.7 pints. An earlier model, the AD1901, holds no ENERGY STAR status at all, with an integrated energy factor of 1.42.

One tank, two capacities

Worth noticing before ordering: the 80 pint and 120 pint models carry the same 1.06 gallon tank.

A machine listed for 6,000 square feet and one listed for 5,000 empty into the same container, so the larger one fills it sooner.

What matters in Florida

A dehumidifier here runs most of the year, and the tank fills constantly. If carrying it to a sink is not the plan, you need either a hose sloping down to a drain or a pump. A built-in pump cannot be added later; an external condensate pump is a separate appliance with its own price and its own place on the floor.

In this line the hose ships with the smallest model, and the pump comes only with the 150 pint version.

Coil frost appears in 0.5 percent of yaufey reviews against 1.6 across the category.

The models on sale

The coverage figure on a listing is the manufacturer’s number for its own test conditions. What a unit will actually pull in your rooms depends on how damp it is now, how much outside air the space draws in, and what the space is used for.
