Waykar Dehumidifier Review: When the Data Disagrees
This waykar dehumidifier review had to be written differently from the others in the series, because the layers of data contradict each other. I did not test the unit.
The share of low ratings here is 11.2 percent, lower than any other brand I have covered. The median time to failure is 5 months, shorter than any other. And the specifications for a single model disagree between pages on the manufacturer’s own site.

Where the numbers come from
The core sample is 62,317 reviews of 711 compressor household dehumidifiers written between 2002 and 2023, drawn from the open Amazon Reviews 2023 dataset. The selection method is described on a separate page.
Waykar accounts for 4,830 of those reviews across seven listings, all written between 2020 and 2023.
What this waykar dehumidifier review found in the ratings
The share of one and two star reviews is 11.2 percent. Across the rest of the core sample it is 18.2 percent, and five star reviews here make up 74.9 percent.
The share of low ratings for Waykar is lower than for any other brand I have covered. Counted the same way: hOmeLabs 13.2 percent, Midea Cube 25.7, Frigidaire 31.7, GE 34.0, Haier 34.98, Hisense 35.2.
Five months
In 138 reviews the owner names how long the unit ran before it failed. The median, meaning the middle value of that list rather than the average, is 5 months, and 88 percent of the figures fall inside the first year.
The median time to failure for Waykar is shorter than for any other brand I have covered. For comparison: Hisense 8 months, Frigidaire and hOmeLabs 12 each, GE 14, Haier 18.
This is where the numbers stop agreeing. The brand with the smallest share of low ratings returns the shortest median time to failure. Our data cannot explain that, and I am not going to smooth it over: both figures were counted by the same rules and they point in opposite directions.
The caveat on the measure itself stands as on every page here. A length of service gets named by owners whose unit died, so this is the distribution inside failure stories rather than an average service life.
What owners write about
Review texts are tagged by topic. The figure is the share of reviews where a topic comes up at all, in praise as well as in complaint.

Denominators: 4,830 Waykar reviews and 57,487 reviews of the rest of the core sample, 2002 to 2023. Shares are counted against all reviews in each group, positive ones included.
Size leads at 21.4 percent against 14.3 across the category, which matches the hardware: the cabinet measures 12.6 by 8.86 by 19.29 inches, smaller than the other machines sold as 50 pint units.
Support and service sits at 18.7 percent against 8.7, twice the category level. Inside low ratings that topic reaches 39.3 percent, second only to breakdown at 44.0 percent.
Thirty-four, eighty, one hundred and fifty
The capacity numbers on this brand’s listings change from model to model, and machines cannot be compared through them.
The current listings read 34, 80 and 150 pints. The 80 pint model carries two figures in its own title: “Max 80 Pint/D (Standard 63 Pint/D)”. Those are one machine in different air. The 80 comes from 95 degrees Fahrenheit at 90 percent relative humidity; the 63 comes from the previous DOE procedure at 80 degrees and 60 percent. On the 150 pint model the conditions appear too, further down in the description: under 95 degrees and 90 percent.
What appears on none of the listings is the Appendix X1 figure. That procedure has applied since 13 June 2019, runs at 65 degrees and 60 percent, and is the one that places a machine in its class in the federal register. No portable unit exceeds 50.0 pints on that scale.
In the register the related entry measures 24.00 pints per day. Between a marketing 80 and a federal 24 lies a factor of more than three, and both numbers were obtained honestly, just in different air. Our page on pint ratings covers how the scales came apart.
One page, several specifications
The product page for the PD160B on the manufacturer’s site states the tank volume three times and gives three answers. The title says 0.62 gallons, the badge under the name says 0.6, the specification table and the description both say 0.66.
The same page states the noise level twice. The title says 33 dB. The questions section says 43 dB on high fan speed and 40 dB on low.
And the title of that page calls the machine a “2025 Most Efficient Energy Star Dehumidifier”, while the questions section on the same page states that it is not ENERGY STAR certified and gives an integrated energy factor of 1.70 litres per kilowatt hour.
I am reporting what the pages say rather than what the company meant. It is possible that different configurations are being described under one model name. As presented to a buyer, the claims contradict each other.
The independently measured noise does not support the quieter figure either: a test recorded 53.9 and 59.1 dB, and airflow figures differ by a factor of two between sources.
One applicant, three brands
Waykar, Kesnos and yaufey file their models for certification through a single legal entity, JHS INC.
A shared applicant does not mean the machines are identical in construction. It does mean that choosing among these three brands is not the same as choosing among three independent manufacturers. The review research page sets out how that shows up across the register.
What matters in Florida
There is no pump in the household line: drainage runs by gravity through a hose supplied in the box. A dehumidifier here gets no dead season, and the question of where the water goes is settled before the purchase.
Compactness is a real advantage: the machine takes up less floor space than its neighbours in the class. It is also the topic owners raise most often.
The models on sale
The coverage figure on a listing is the manufacturer’s number for its own test conditions. What a unit will actually pull in your rooms depends on how damp it is now, how much outside air the space draws in, and what the space is used for. I did not test the unit. The findings come from owner reviews, the ENERGY STAR register and manufacturer specifications.
Reviews are not a random sample of owners: they are written by people who decided to write. The share of low ratings is not the share of failures.
Why a brand with the smallest share of low ratings returns the shortest median time to failure is not something our data explains.
Appendix X1 figures for the specific models on sale were not found in the register under their own names. The class was read from a related entry.
The specification conflicts are reported as they appear. Which version is correct, I do not know.
Topic tagging works on words. It sees that a topic was raised, but it does not separate praise from complaint except through the rating attached to the review.
