The core sample is 62,317 reviews of 711 compressor household dehumidifiers written between 2002 and 2023, drawn from the open Amazon Reviews 2023 dataset. The selection method is described on a separate page.

Hisense accounts for 724 of those reviews across 38 listings, which clears the 700 review threshold I set for the published brand table. The reviews run from 2013 to 2023 with two peaks: 101 in 2015 and 120 in 2019.

What this hisense dehumidifier review found in the ratings

The share of one and two star reviews is 35.2 percent. Across the rest of the core sample it is 17.4 percent.

Hisense lands in the upper group for low ratings alongside Haier at 34.98 percent and GE at 34.0 percent. Our data cannot separate those three from each other: the spread is under a point and a half across cohorts of 586 to 724 reviews.

The number describes owner experience rather than build quality. The age of the listings, the mix of models, what a buyer expected going in: any of those explains a gap like this, and none of them can be tested on our sample.

Drainage in 30.5 percent of reviews, failure in 46.3 percent of low ratings

Review texts are tagged by topic. The figure is the share of reviews where a topic comes up at all, in praise as well as in complaint.

Drainage leads on frequency, 30.5 percent against 19.8 across the category, and holds at 31.4 percent inside low ratings.

What sits behind that, the tagging does not separate. A failed pump and praise for continuous drainage both land in the same group. All that can be said is that drainage turns up in low ratings at least as often as in reviews generally: 31.4 percent against 30.5.

The error code row deserves its own line: 6.2 percent against 1.8 across the category, and 16.9 percent inside low ratings. One in six owners who left a one or two star review mentions a code or a sensor.

First place inside low ratings goes to breakdown, repair or warranty, at 46.3 percent.

Eight months

In 70 reviews the owner names how long the unit ran before it failed. The median is 8 months.

Counted the same way: Frigidaire returns 12 months across 445 mentions, GE 14 months across 63, Haier 18 months across 42.

The caveat is the one that applies on every page here. A length of service gets named by owners whose unit died, so this is the distribution inside failure stories rather than an average service life. The cohorts are different sizes, and I will not stack them into a ranking.

What the brand actually offers

In the 50 pint class the pump is built in, a 16 foot hose is supplied, and the warranty runs two years instead of the usual one. A noise range is published at 48 to 50 dB(A). The 35 and 25 pint models have no pump.

A word on the temperature rating. The line is specified down to 38 degrees Fahrenheit, with the manual giving a 38 to 90 range. A Florida house does not reach that mark even in winter. Where it could matter is an unheated space, a garage or a shed, on a cold night in the north of the state.

The new generation answers the old complaints

The models behind our cohort, DH-25K1HJE, DH-35K1SCLE, DH-50K1SJE and their relatives, now show as unavailable on Amazon.

A different line is on sale today, and the largest model in it is built around exactly what owners raised. The 50 pint Lift-Up takes the tank out from the top, holds 18 pints, and pairs a built-in pump with a quick-connect hose.

Drainage and the tank are the top two topics in our reviews, at 30.5 and 21.8 percent. Whether the redesign helped is not something our data can say: no reviews of the new generation exist in the open dataset.

One more difference inside the line is noise. The 35 pint model is rated at 46 dBA on low, the 25 pint model at 57 dBA. The smaller machine is the louder one here.

What matters in Florida

Coil frost appears in 1.0 percent of Hisense reviews against 1.6 across the category. Frost belongs to work in a cold room, and in this climate the topic drops off the checklist.

The practical question when choosing is a single one: how the water leaves the machine. A dehumidifier here gets no dead season, so it is settled before the purchase rather than after. In this line a pump comes only with the 50 pint version; the 25 and 35 pint models drain by gravity or into the bucket.
