What the registry actually lists
The ENERGY STAR dataset downloaded on October 9, 2026 contains three ALORAIR records, all classified as Portable Dehumidifiers. HDi65S appears as an additional model under the HD55S record. [1]
| Model | Pints per day | IEF | kWh per year | Most Efficient |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Helios D35 | 24.00 | 1.95 | 274 | yes |
| Sentinel HD55S with HDi65S | 36.33 | 2.08 | 379 | no |
| Sentinel Pro35X | 21.27 | 1.90 | 242 | yes |
Capacity follows the registry’s DOE test procedure. IEF is the integrated energy factor in L/kWh. Annual energy use is a standardized estimate, not a forecast for a particular home.
Sentinel HD55S, Abestorm Guardian SN55S and BaseAire AirWerx 55S share the listed values of 36.33 pints/day, 2.08 IEF and 379 kWh/year. Sentinel Pro35X and Argendon Sandidry Pro35C share 21.27 pints/day and 1.90 IEF.
These entries name AlorAir Solutions Inc. as the ENERGY STAR partner. Matching registry figures do not establish that the complete machines, components or service arrangements are identical.
Our investigation into the ownership and connections between these brands brings together trademark records, component numbers and warranty terms.
Current and archived records
HDi90, Galaxy 60 and the WHD line were not found in the current dataset downloaded for this update. Absence from this export alone does not establish why a record is missing. [1]
The original September 2 research recorded HDi90 in the archived dataset: certification dated September 9, 2020, Portable category, 47.71 pints/day under the DOE procedure and 1.95 IEF. That historical record is not confirmation of current certification. [2]
A retailer’s certification claim should be matched to the exact model in the current Product Finder, rather than carried over from an older listing.
Different conditions. Different capacities.
The larger number on a product card often belongs to the hotter, more humid saturation test. Compare capacity only at the same temperature and relative humidity. [3]
| Model | AHAM, 80 °F / 60% | Saturation, 90 °F / 90% | DOE |
|---|---|---|---|
| HD55 | 53 | 113 | 34.53 at 60 °F / 60% |
| HD55S | 55 | 120 | 36.33 per the registry |
| HD90 | 90 | 198 | not gathered |
| HDi90 | 90 | 198 | 47.71 per the archived entry |
| HDi100 | 100 | 220 | not gathered |
| HDi120 | 120 | 235 | not gathered |
DOE figures in the table are registry or dealer figures from the original research; HDi90 is historical. A model name can span hardware revisions, so this table does not establish that all listed figures describe the same production version.
The September source check found a retailer assigning the HDi90’s 198-pint figure to 95 °F. Manufacturer documentation used 90 °F / 90% RH. More on pint ratings and test conditions.
Which models include a pump?
HDi65S, HDi90, HDi100 and HDi120 include a pump. HDi65S also supports gravity drainage. The HD prefix alone does not mean gravity-only: HD35P and HD55P are pump-equipped models. [3][4]
For the two pump-equipped Sentinel models, compare HD35P vs HD55P.
In the Galaxy line, 60P and 85P include a pump; Galaxy 60 drains by gravity. The pump runs automatically during operation. A manual drain or purge control starts an extra pump cycle to empty remaining water.
See HD55S vs HDi65S for the two drainage routes, and Galaxy 60 vs 60P vs 85P for the three-model comparison.
Refrigerants: check the version
The original research documented R410A in older Sentinel models including HD55, HD90 and HDi90, and R32 in Galaxy, Helios, WHD and the pump-equipped HD35P and HD55P. [3]
HD55S needs a version-specific check. Older documentation lists R410A, while the newer HD55S and HDi65S specifications list R32. The current ENERGY STAR record also lists HFC-32. Use the unit’s label and matching manual to identify the refrigerant. [1][5]
R32 is an A2L refrigerant. Installation, servicing and clearance requirements belong to the exact model’s manual; this overview is not an installation specification.
Filters and replacement options
The Sentinel documentation reviewed for HD55S, HD90 and HDi90 lists MERV-1 filtration. AlorAir also sells MERV-8 replacements for some models. This does not make MERV-8 the standard filter for every Sentinel. [3]
Find compatible parts in our guide to AlorAir replacement filters and accessories.
For HDi90, the September source check found MERV-1 in the specification and box contents while a feature description mentioned MERV-8. Check the exact listing and supplied filter. Galaxy documentation describes its MERV-1 filter as washable; follow the cleaning instructions for the fitted filter.
Operating temperature limits
| Line | Operating range |
|---|---|
| Sentinel | 33.8–104 °F |
| WHD150 and WHD200 | 35.6–102.2 °F |
| Galaxy and Helios | 37.4–100.4 °F |
Inlet-air ranges collected in the September 2 comparison. The WHD100 and WHD120 temperature ranges were not gathered. Model-specific manuals take precedence over these line-level summaries. [3]
The Galaxy and Helios upper limit shown here is 100.4 °F, versus 104 °F for the listed Sentinel units. Whether that difference matters depends on the actual inlet temperature. These figures alone do not establish suitability for an attic.
The recorded humidity ranges were 36-90% for Sentinel, 35-90% for Galaxy and Helios, and up to 98% for WHD.
The ducted WHD line
The ducted line launched by press release on 21 July 2025 and is documented unevenly.
For the two smaller ducted models, see WHD100 vs WHD120.
| Model | AHAM | DOE at 73 °F / 60% | COP, L/kWh | Airflow, CFM | Up to sq ft |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| WHD100 | 90 | 70 | 2.6 and 2.2 | 229 and 309 | 2,300 |
| WHD120 | 104 | not gathered | not gathered | 229 and 309 | 3,000 |
| WHD150 | 140 | 115 | 3.7 and 3.4 | 309 and 383 | 3,500 |
| WHD200 | 165 | 140 | 3.3 and 3.2 | 309 and 413 | 4,500 |
Airflow given at low and high fan speed. Coverage is a manufacturer claim without a stated moisture load.
Capacity comes as a pair of figures with their test conditions. An airflow-versus-external-static-pressure rating was not captured in the original source comparison. The two airflow values describe low and high fan speed; they do not establish airflow through a particular duct system.
Drainage is described on the cards as gravity with a pump option. Alongside it come a motorised fresh air damper, four choices of inlet and outlet orientation, and compatibility with ten-inch ductwork.
Sound output is 64 dBA on the WHD150 and 65 dBA on the WHD200. Current draw is 6.5 and 8.5 amps at 115 volts.
The table preserves the September 2, 2026 manufacturer figures. For the broader system comparison, see the whole-house dehumidifier guide. [3]
Warranty coverage changes over time
AlorAir’s current published terms distinguish the general dehumidifier warranty from whole-house products. The expanded general warranty applies to orders from May 14, 2026, with retroactive coverage for April 14 through May 13. [6]
Parts and labor
The first two years include parts, labor and replacement under the published terms.
Refrigeration system
Coverage narrows to the refrigeration system. Transport and labor are excluded.
Whole-house products have separate terms: five years for the unit and six for specified components, with labor, shipping, removal and reinstallation exclusions. Older manuals may show earlier warranty schedules. Match the terms to the product and order date.
What owner reviews can tell us
The original analysis of the Amazon Reviews 2023 corpus includes 746 AlorAir reviews, with 18.8% rated one or two stars. The corpus ends in 2023. This is a historical review sample, not a current failure rate. [7]
746 reviews in the brand sample · data through 2023
The distribution across models is not established, so the percentage cannot be assigned to HD55S, Galaxy or another individual machine. Seller sales estimates do not resolve that gap.
Portable brands are compared in the Florida selection guide; sizing is covered in the crawl space guide.
Independent measurement
The original September 2 research did not identify independent laboratory reports with published capacity, noise and power measurements for the units reviewed here. It found Bob Vila hands-on coverage of HD55/HD55S and HDi90, but did not extract comparable numerical measurements. This is a limit of that search, not a claim that no such measurements can exist.
Recall history
The project’s September 2, 2026 CPSC search did not identify an AlorAir recall campaign. That is a dated search result, not a safety certification or a statement about later records. Use the CPSC database to check a specific model. [8]
Large dehumidifier recalls in the original source review concerned Gree Electric Appliances and New Widetech. Those records should not be attributed to AlorAir without matching manufacturer and model evidence.
